Almost all Zn-treated cells (approximately 90%) had undergone cell death by passage 11, whereas only approximately 40% of control cells had undergone cell death by this point. Measurement of SA-β-gal staining and p16 expression as biomarkers of senescence revealed increases induced by the Zn treatment at late passages. |
